Welcome the newest member of our SERVPRO of Ashland County team! AnnMarie Hill is a 2017 graduate of St. Peter's High School and was born and raised in Mansfield, OH. A few weeks ago a local restaurant owner called us in a panic.  When his staff went into his restaurant early in the morning to begin preparations they turned on their fryer to warm it up.  

Without warning some grease near the fryers caught fire and started the kitchen burning!  Luckily the fire department was able to stop the fire before the restaurant became a total loss, but as you can see there was still an incredible amount of smoke and soot damage.

It's important to check the integrity of water connectors in your home periodically.  In this example, the customer turned off the water to the shower wand but not to the bathtub itself.

When the line burst it caused water to spray at high pressure in all directions.

Unfortunately for this customer she waited too long to call us to handle water damage related to a roof leak.  She was hoping it would dry on its own, but with water trapped inside the wall it was only a matter of time until the mold grew through.

To remediate the mold it was necessary to erect a containment around the affected area, install air scrubbers to create negative air pressure inside the chamber, and perform the necessary demolition.  Once the framing is exposed we treated the structural wood for mold and dried the affected area.  

Our attention to detail was particularly important on this project because one of the children who lived in the house has asthma and was sensitive to mold.

Regardless if your flat roof is on a residential or commercial building, it is important to regularly check on its condition.  For the owner of this business, not maintaining adequate drainage on his roof ended up costing him quite a bit of money.

A strong storm overwhelmed the drainage system on this roof causing water to accumulate on the roof's surface.  As the water pooled, it worked its way inside of the building flooding the rooms below it.

One of the rooms below happened to be a commercial kitchen.  Water caused the ceiling sheetrock to partially collapse creating a hazardous situation for the employees.

Another rainy week in North Richland and Ashland County. We have been blessed with excessive amounts of rain this month which means very busy days. As photographed above; this house has succumbed to the down pour and now it is time to dry out and get the area ready for the next stage.

The straight-line wind storm tore off part of the chimney, and the bricks and wind broke through the ceiling via the attic crawl space. The Labor Day tornado in Crawford and Richland counties followed a roughly 17-mile path in 20 minutes. 

The EF-2 tornado started west of North Robinson at 10:42 p.m. Monday and ended north of Mansfield at 11:02 p.m.  EF2 describes a tornado with wind speeds of 111 to 135 mph. The estimated maximum wind speed of Monday's tornado was 130 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
